Sergio Hudson brought his signature glamour to New York’s Rainbow Room for his Spring/Summer 2027 runway show, sponsored by Capital One Business. Against the venue’s sweeping city views, Hudson presented a confident collection filled with saturated color, sculptural tailoring, and the unapologetically polished silhouettes that have become central to his design language.
On the Runway
Tomato red, neon yellow, violet, and electric blue energized the runway. Belted pantsuits appeared alongside monochromatic skirt suits, form-fitting dresses, plunging jumpsuits, and hand-draped chiffon gowns. Floor-grazing headscarves added movement and drama, while Hudson’s longtime muse Veronica Webb commanded the runway in one of the collection’s body-conscious looks.
The soundtrack strengthened the collection’s celebratory mood. Songs including Toni Braxton’s “You’re Makin’ Me High” and Erykah Badu’s “Sometimes” accompanied the models, connecting Hudson’s high-glamour vision with the music and cultural references that continue to shape his work. Beyond clothing, the designer is also preparing to expand his universe with forthcoming diamond jewelry and eyewear collections.

Backstage, two Black women-owned beauty brands completed the presentation. Lead makeup artist Sir John used Danessa Myricks Beauty to create the runway makeup, preparing the complexion with the Yummy Skin 10/10 Barrier Boost Hyaluronic Acid + Ectoin Plumping Serum before applying the Yummy Skin Soothing Serum Skin Tint and Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder. The look was finished with Balm Contour, Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed and Glosswork 4D Ultra Shine Plumping Gloss, along with shades from the forthcoming Lightwork VIII Freedom Palette.
For the hair, lead hairstylist Destiny Kelly worked with Camille Rose to create sleek, firmly secured buns that complemented Hudson’s precise tailoring. The Guava Slip Heavy On Hold Extreme Gel provided hold and helped reduce flyaways, while the Guava Slip Style & Set Hard Hold Mousse was used to refine the perimeter and polish each style.
Together, the clothing, music, hair, and makeup delivered a unified expression of modern glamour. Hudson’s latest collection celebrated women who are unafraid of color, structure, or visibility, while the collaboration with Danessa Myricks Beauty and Camille Rose reinforced the influence of Black creativity at every level of the runway show.
