Heard on the street: MLB bans Yankees fans for World Series interference

Two New York Yankees fans have learned the hard way that Major League Baseball doesn’t take game interference lightly.

Uptown Mlb Ban Main

“On Oct. 29, 2024, during Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium, you interfered with play by intentionally and forcefully grabbing a player. Your conduct posed a serious risk to the health and safety of the player and went far over the line of acceptable fan behavior.”

“Based on your conduct, Major League Baseball is banning you indefinitely from all MLB stadiums, offices, and other facilities. You are also hereby banned indefinitely from attending any events sponsored by or associated with MLB. Please be advised that if you are discovered at any MLB property or event, you will be removed from the premises and subject to arrest for trespass.”

– Major League Baseball (MLB) sent a letter to New York Yankees fans Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen last week, banning them from all MLB events and properties. During the World Series game at Yankee Stadium on Oct. 9, 2024, Capobianco and Hansen interfered with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts as he “leaped at the retaining wall in foul territory and caught Gleyber Torres’ pop fly in the first inning,” reports AP News. One fan grabbed Betts’ glove with both hands and pulled out the baseball. The other grabbed Betts’ bare hand. The Yankees called Capobianco and Hansen’s behavior “egregious and unacceptable.”
