Karen Huger‘s release from prison on September 2 may have been captured by the production of The Real Housewives of Potomac, the Bravo reality series in which Huger “reigned” as the Grande Dame until her DUI conviction.
On Feb. 26, 2025, a Maryland judge sentenced Huger to two years in prison, with one year suspended, after a jury convicted her for a DUI collision in Potomac on March 2024. She had crashed her Maserati into a tree at a high speed. On Feb. 27, 2025, Huger began serving her sentence at Montgomery County Detention Center. Six months later, Huger earned an early release for her good behavior while incarcerated.
Huger’s DUI arrest was her major plotline of RHOP, as the trial and possible conviction were looming over her throughout season 9. Although she didn’t participate in the reunion, save for prerecording a video message to her fellow cast members, Huger’s predicament never left the minds of fans and the media, who waited with extreme anticipation for her release. It seems a production crew with Truly Original, RHOP‘s production company, also captured Huger’s first moments as a free dame, ah, woman.
Clue #1
The first clue that Karen Huger will appear on season 10 of RHOP comes from Fox 5 DC’s Stephanie Ramirez who reported that officials were holding news crews in the prison parking lot, but a camera crew was allowed to film the entrance. Ramirez’s video, posted to X, depicts a crew member approaching the building with what appears to be camera equipment.

Clue #2
As speculation grew, Amber Ferguson, a senior video editor and writer at The Washington Post, reported that a woman was delayed visiting her imprisoned husband, presumably, because Huger was getting full glam, hair and makeup, done in the lobby of the detention center. The production crew likely sought to record Huger’s first free moments, but as a bonafide reality TV star, she wouldn’t be caught slipping without her wig laid and face beat.
Clue #3
A newly-released Huger waved to her fans from an SUV, but neither she nor her representatives have issued a statement.
If Huger participates in the 10th season of RHOP, her storyline will likely center around her rebound following incarceration and the conditions of her release, which include five years of probation, not being allowed to drive for a year, and being required to use a breathalyzer device in her vehicle for four years after she is permitted to drive again.
