7 Days of Disney Wonder in Alaska

The Disney Wonder cruise liner presents the majesty of Alaska’s wilderness with the unparalleled magical touch of Disney.

Alaska is considered the final frontier because of its rugged terrain. In fact, more than 160,000 acres of the state’s 360 million acres remains untouched. Therefore, experiencing the wilderness at its most authentic will not be a difficult task for any traveler visiting Alaska.

Disney Wonder, a part of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, will cruise Alaska this summer, just as it did in 2022. It will give adventurers and explorers of every age the opportunity to experience the majesty of America’s most northerly state and all the goodness it has to offer in grand Disney style, of course.

Vancouver, Canada is where travelers will meet the Disney Wonder and embark for Alaska. Depending on your flight arrival time in Vancouver, you will either need an overnight stay in a hotel or you will be transported to Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal if you arrive the same day as your cruise. Captain Minnie or one of her friends greets welcomes guests with a memorable photo keepsake. Once everyone is aboard and after safety formalities are complete, Disney Wonder sets sail – with a dramatic flourish of “When You Wish Upon A Star” playing through the ship’s horn during Mickey’s Sail-a-Wave deck party, of course – for an experience that no other cruise line offers.

Over the course of your seven-day cruise, you’ll savor specially-themed culinary offerings throughout the ship. Whether it’s a taste of New Orleans in Tiana’s Place, visually artful and flavorful offerings in Animators Plate, or sampling royal offerings in Triton’s Place, your rotational dinner experience at these three restaurants will be memorable and full of thoughtful Disney touches. While on-board the Disney Wonder, you should also experience brunch and dinner at Palo. This upscale restaurant continues to be one of the best dining experiences aboard any cruise ship. The additional nominal fee to experience Palo is well worth the expense because you will walk away from the table with quite a smile on your face! Be sure you try the chicken parmigiana for brunch and the lamb for dinner.

During your first three days at sea, the Disney Wonder navigates from British Columbia, Canada through Alaska’s Inside Passage. During these “at sea” days, you can take advantage of exciting amenities and entertainment, including spa treatments at Disney’s Senses Spa and Frozen: A Musical Spectacular live in one of the ship’s theaters. Day 2 presents an experience of a lifetime, viewing Dawes Glacier, which is a majestically massive glacier that’s over 600-feet tall and roughly one mile wide. Disney Wonder welcomes her guests to the outside decks to witness the imposing height and size of this marvel of nature.

Days 4, 5, and 6 provide opportunities to experience Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures onshore. Here’s a rundown of what cruisers can expect:

Skagway

Hop aboard a vintage rail car with White Pass Scenic Railway to retrace the Yukon Gold rush routing and set out on the historic and picturesque White Pass and Yukon Railroad up the mountain.

Juneau

You and your family can spend three hours whale watching and sightseeing in the waters of Juneau before you head to experience the grandeur of Mendenhall Glacier.

Ketchikan

Take a walking tour of this friendly seaside town where culinary offerings abound. Afterwards, you should head to experience a special Disney Cruise Line exclusive, the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. Your family will enjoy the comedic banter while witnessing the skill and expertise of some the world’s best timber-athletes as they log roll, chop, and saw wood in this fun and family-friendly show that’s big on audience participation.

Alaskan Wildlife

Wildlife, like orcas and eagles, is abundant in Alaska.

Day 7 is another day “at sea” where you can finish up all of those on-board experiences that you were unable to take advantage of during your cruise. Or, better yet, just hang out and luxuriate aboard the ship.

(Pro tip: Cruising Alaska aboard Disney Wonder is especially unique for Disney Vacation Club Members, who enjoy special movie screenings, gifts, celebrity meet-ups, and other amenities that are only offered aboard this special sailing.)

Sailing with Disney Cruise Line is always a magical experience, but coupling it with a visit to Alaska only enhances the vacation journey for you and your family.
