Ask any fan whether Hip-Hop and cognac go together, and you’ll hear, “Like the DJ and the MC.” Rémy Martin has long realized the shared legacy of cognac and music sparking joyful celebrations, and it commemorated the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop and concluded the popular Rémy Martin Mixtape Limited Edition Series with a celebration on March 22 at the Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx, not too far from where Hip-Hop was birthed in 1973. The star-studded night was also a celebration of one of the most integral facets of Hip-Hop culture – the DJ – and highlighted the Rémy Martin Mixtape Street Art Museum.

Legendary mixtape DJs, including DJ Spinderella, DJ Cocoa Chanelle, Kool DJ Red Alert, DJ Marley Marl, DJ Yella, DJ Jelly, and DJ Jay Illa attended the jubilant fete that was a tribute to their skills on the 1s and 2s. These Mixtape icons, along with DJ Shortkut, are honored in the Rémy Martin Mixtape Street Art Museum, a traveling exhibition of illustrator Xia Gordon’s imaginings of eight iconic DJs from five key cities across the nation. These DJs have helped to cultivate mixtape culture and have left indelible marks on Hip-Hop. The Mixtape Street Art Museum highlights their contributions through AI-powered murals located in each honored DJ’s hometown. Red Alert, Spinderella, Marley Marl, and Cocoa Chanelle took the mic to express their joy in celebrating Hip-Hop’s anniversary with Rémy Martin.

Guests were able to explore the Universal Hip Hop Museum’s archival offerings while sipping specialty cognac-based cocktails like The Marley Marl, The Red Alert, The Spinderella, and The Cocoa Chanelle, which are all creative takes on Rémy Martin’s classic VSOP cocktails, while DJ Suss One and DJ Quicksilva provided the night’s soundtrack. Hip Hop Dance Junkies also treated revelers to a special breakdance performance.

But the party didn’t stop there. Rémy Martin also released the VSOP Mixtape Volume 3 Limited Edition, a rare collectible bottle that honors the legacy of music and cognac to create joyful celebrations and timeless memories.
