On August 24th, 20th Century Studios hosted a special VIP rooftop “pool party” screening of the new comedy Vacation Friends in Los Angeles at The Hollywood Roosevelt Rooftop. Film stars Lil Rel Howery and Yvonne Orji attended the event.
Vacation Friends is a “raw and raunchy comedy” in which Howery and Orji play straight-laced couple Marcus and Emily, respectively, who “befriended by wild, thrill seeking partiers Ron and Kyla (John Cena, Meredith Hagner) at a resort in Mexico. Living in the moment, the usually level-headed couple lets loose to enjoy a week of uninhibited fun and debauchery with their new ‘vacation friends.’ Months after their walk on the wild side, Marcus and Emily are horrified when Ron and Kyla show up uninvited at their wedding, creating chaos and proving that what happens on vacation, doesn’t necessarily stay on vacation.”
Orji, Howery, Cena, and Hagner, star in Vacation Friends alongside Robert Wisdom (The Alienist, Ballers), Andrew Bachelor (The Babysitter, Holidate), and Lynn Whitfield (Greenleaf, Without a Trace).
For the screening, Apuje Kalu styled Orji in a blue Greta Constantine dress from the Toronto-based design duo Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong. The beautiful dress was no match for Orji’s booty, however. Her Le Silla clear pumps are the luxury brainchild of Enio Silla and Monica Ciabattini.
Howery, who also appears in the recently-released Free Guy, wore sky blue shorts with a matching sweatshirt that read: “Maxine, Michelle, Kamala, Keisha, Stacey.” He completed the look with a pair of sneakers and a baseball cap.
Vacation Friends is 20th Century Studios’ first film to have a global release on the Hulu and Disney+ streaming platforms, with it debuting on Friday, August 27th. The film will also be available in Latin America as part of the new Star+ direct-to-consumer service launching on August 31st in the region.
