The sound of music never looked so good!

For the past two years, the VP of Marketing at Island Def Jam Music Group has been responsible for creating marketing campaigns for the  artists du jour including Grammy award winner Frank Ocean, Luke James, and Big Sean. From corporate partnerships to strategic marketing, Rahmaan has her hands on each and every aspect of her artists' branding.

Before making the move to Island Def Jam, the Maryland-born, Morgan State University graduate worked at Violator Management, Translation and provided musical supervision for flicks like Stomp The Yard through her company MusicSoopz, Inc. The music powerhouse recently sat down with US to discuss her first job, the joy of headboards and chasing waterfalls.

REFLECTIONS:  Hometown: Ft. Washington, MD * First Job: Coordinator at Violator Management. From there, I went on to become an artist manager. * Advice she would have given herself 10 years ago: Save money first, shop later. * Most valuable life lesson: ALWAYS do what makes your heart smile. * Most valuable business lesson: Do not let obstacles or challenges simmer; confront them head on and early. * Words to live by: “What other people think about you is none of your business!”  * Working on currently: The launch of Big Sean’s sophomore album – HALL OF FAME.  Also working on new artist Jhene Aiko, a new Fabolous album and Pusha T’s first solo album.

DIVERSIONS: Reading: Aleph by Paulo Coelho * Last fun purchase: I just got an amazing new headboard. Does that count as fun? *  Recently Discovered: A cute little waterfall in Central Park. I love nature so I was in heaven.

PLAYING FAVORITES: Hotel: The Montage in Beverly Hills. Love the location and the service is impeccable. * Getaway: Italy. Hands down --  either Rome or the coast - Positano or Sorrento. Left my heart there. * Entrée to order and from where: Foie Gras at Le Cosi in Cannes.* Place to meet friends for drinks: 67 Orange in Harlem. Most amazing drinks and atmosphere. It’s my Cheers. * Last time I went out I ordered: Lobster Ravioli at RSVP
