London and Chi-town acquire new lavish lodgings
Let these new hotels provide just another excuse to travel a bit more this summer.
London: The Bulgari Hotel & Residences
Just in time for the Olympic Games, the Bulgari Hotel & Residences is at the ready mark. Set to open this weekend, the London's newest luxury hotel boasts 85 rooms and suites decked in silver designs in honor of Bulgari’s silversmith origins. Fewer rooms allows for more spacious albeit pricey accommodations, but can you really put a price on luxury? When guests aren’t lounging in their comfy quarters, they can grab a bite at the hotel’s restaurant, Il Ristorante, or a drink at Il Bar. Of course, a luxury hotel wouldn’t be complete without a spa--this one spans two floors—or an indoor swimming pool in which to catch a few laps. 171 Knightsbridge, City of Westminster, SW7 1DW020.7591.2442
Chicago: IVY Hotel
Chicago’s latest luxury boutique hotel had finally debuted the Near North neighborhood. The modern high-rise--reaching 15 stories up—features just five rooms per floor, and 52 of the hotel’s 63 opulent rooms have been constructed as suites. Guests can look forward to such lofty amenities as espresso machines, in-mirror TVs, oversize California king beds, and sea-salt soaking tubs. IVY’s reservation-only restaurant will feature traditional fare, and come June, guests will be able to kick back with a few drinks and take in the sky-high views from IVY’s 16th-floor rooftop terrace. 233 East Ontario St. 312.335.5444
