Shake It Up

Have your candy and drink it too

With Easter around the corner, we've been a little candy-obsessed. At the following eateries, satisfying a serious sugar jones is just a milkshake away.

CHICAGO: Burger Bar

Burgers are the main draw here, but the shakes are the next best thing. The Chocolate Three-Way, made of rich milk chocolate with semisweet chocolate whipped cream and coco nibs on the top, and Malted Milk Ball Madness, which includes a Whopper-ish ball, are worth mooing about. 1578 N. Clybourn, 312-255-0055

LOS ANGELES: Milk

Since very few people try Milk and leave it alone, finding solitude in the consistently crowded L.A. hot spot may indeed be mission impossible. But a straw full of milky candy-esque goodness like the Mint Chocolate Crunch and the Coffee Toffee Crunch Shake makes it all worth the effort. 7290 Beverly Blvd., 323-939-6455

PHILADELPHIA: Ants Pants Café

For almost a hundred years, the iconic Violet Crumble--honeycomb toffee coated in chocolate that, you guessed it, crumbled--was the Aussie candy bar of choice. That bar is no more, but Ants Pants (Aussie slang for “the best”) consistently serves up nostalgic goodness with its popular Violet Crumble Milkshake. 2212 South St.,215-875-8002

WASHINGTON D.C.: Ted’s Bulletin

Milkshakes are among the many reasons Ted’s Bulletin has risen high on the Capital City food chain. And while there are more than a dozen to choose from, the Peppermint and Heath Almond are the two that most satisfy a sudden craving. 505 8th St. S.E., 202-544-8337
