Rochelle Smith Trotter
Rochelle Smith Trotter, the wife of Charlie Trotter--Chicago-based restaurateur and one of the nation’s top chefs--has tasted plenty of her own success. The former public relations exec is making big waves as owner of R’Culinaire, a culinary consulting firm that works with developers, hoteliers, and chefs throughout the world. Recently, she traveled to Abu Dhabi and Shanghai to help coordinate a food conference and investigate development options for television.
Check out her full interview on uptownmagazine.com where she discusses Chicago's food and fashion scene and reminisces about her days living in Paris. Here, Trotter recounts some of her favorite things.
My essential item: A sexy black dress.
Greatest style arbiter: My now deceased mother was a crucial influence in giving me confidence while teaching me the feminine, Southern belle aspects of dressing, which is one reason I love to wear hats.
All-time favorite item: I had the honor of wearing the Van Cleef & Arpels Dentelle collection earrings, ring, watch, and necklace on my wedding day. It was magical!
On Chicago’s fashion scene: The women are progressive, yet there is a mix of old-fashioned elegance here that rounds everything out. I love all the young new designers coming out of Chicago. Maria Pinto is one of my favorites.
Place to be alone: The Art Institute of Chicago.
