A new MYKITA & Moncler eyewear collaboration leads the fashion forecast
The luxury outerwear brand Moncler has always had a way of making the mundane unbelievably sophisticated.
So what happens when they link up with German eyewear manufacturer MYKITA to create protective eyewear for harsh winter climes?
A collection of some of the coolest frames this side of MOMA.
The LINO and ACHILLE styles pay homage to the first two men who conquered K2--the second highest mountain in the world--clad in custom Moncler down jackets. The two frames embody the philosophies of both brands and prove why German engineering continues to stand apart from the rest. MYKITA patented an extra-light and durable polyamide-based material called Mylon, which adjusts to the wearer and makes the structure of the frame both state-of-the-art and avant-garde.
Available in red, blue, and black, the frames work just as well for gliding down slopes as they do for everyday use. The technology in the mineral lens acts like a micro venetian blind, filtering sunlight and reducing glare from everything from car windshields to icy mountains. The inside of the lens boasts an anti-fog layer so the fog from your breath doesn’t impair your vision, yet, on the outside, a little moisture will reveal a MYKITA & Moncler logo.
Around for a limited time only (six months) starting at the beginning of 2012, the sunglasses retail for $730 and are available at high-end department stores and eyewear boutiques worldwide.
Get yours before the first snowfall.
