A Pod-tastic Ski Retreat

Halloween decorations have crept into stores, with Thanksgiving and Christmas soon to follow. By that logic, it's not too early to start thinking about ski season.  Let us present The Whitepod Resort in the Swiss Alps.

The resort is located in the village of Les Cerniers and boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the mountain and picture-perfect snow. But what makes Whitepod different from the average ski resort are its unique accommodations. Foregoing the predictable woodsy log cabin style in an effort to reduce the impact on nature, the property instead offers 15 dome-shaped pods reminiscent of igloos.

Each pod is created to insulate guests from the cold and snow and features king-size beds, organic luxury bedding, wood-burning stoves, and full-service bathrooms. While you might envision a cramped living space, each unit has more than enough room for several people. At the center of the community is an old-fashioned wooden chalet in which guests can enjoy breakfast, evening drinks, and entertainment. For a complete dining experience, the restaurant Les Cerniers offers traditional and contemporary dishes. Accommodations range from $430 to $600 per night.
