Rooftop Romps
Bringing the heat is just what summer does. But escalating temperatures don’t have to diminish the fun - especially not when there are rooftop spots not afraid of a little sweat. Here are three of the newest lounges made just for elevated debauchery.
Studio Paris, Chicago
Oui, oui! Located above the Paris Club, Studio Paris (pictured) is the place for sophisticated abandon. Access it via stairs behind the first-floor DJ booth and enter a world of studded beams, grass walls, ceilings with dangling beads, a champagne-laden bar and a retractable glass roof. The “City of Light” is known for its pulsating vibe so mixing and mingling here is always a seductively good times. Be careful though because in-house photography just may capture your every move if you let them. (In case you didn’t know, Studio Paris is a full-fledged photo studio by day.) Europe in the Windy City plus champagne punch? Now that’s a great idea for rooftop heaven. 59 W. Hubbard, 312.595.0800, @ParisClubChi.
PH-D, Dream Downtown, NYC
Shorthand for Penthouse-Dream, PH-D at Dream Downtown is already a factor. Ballers Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire, as well as modelistas Kimora Lee Simmons, Jessica White and Tyson Beckford were among those spotted at the posh spot’s soft launch just weeks before its official grand opening on July 5. It's a sexy affair from beginning to end. The lobby ceiling doubling as the bottom of the outdoor pool. One of the all-glass walls leads to some of the most orgasmic views in the Big Apple. Marble and platinum accents conjure up iconic memories of unabashed ‘80s decadence while the scorching sounds and two bars serving up Sweet Peach (their signature sangria) and Spring Rain (a new twist on the classic Dark & Stormy) keeps it so 21st century, making PH-D is the latest, greatest in al fresco NYC nightlife. 355 West 16th Street, 12th Floor, 212.229.2559.
Sol Deck at Hotel Meliá, Atlanta
It’s getting caliente in the United States as Sol Meliã, the internationally-known chain for fun in the sun, has taken up residence in the ATL. Playing musical hotel chairs by scooping up the Renaissance’s old address, Hotel Meliá is already doing its best to shed the old. The spirit of change is very much in the air, beginning on the fourth floor where Sol Deck - Atlanta’s latest lounging pool/rooftop destination - has ATLiens wetter than wet in just a few weeks. Night-time parties and seafood brunches seem to be the international secret for a universal good time and this is only the beginning. 590 West Peachtree Street NW, 404.877.9000
