Tesla Motors’ is not your ordinary car company. Just for starters, the Tesla Roadster Sport has a 0-60 of 3.7 seconds and a range of 240 miles. And it’s 100% electric.
So, when it comes to dealerships, Tesla isn’t taking the traditional route. Like Apple, Tesla will own and operate its own shops. With only eight US stores to date, Tesla is keeping a low profile. Unlike the big dealerships we all know and love, Tesla’s are downsized to carry just a few display cars.. To further their small footprint, the company intends to keep selling cars over the internet.
And no need, as yet, for a service area. Electric vehicles (EV’s) require less care than cars powered by engines. That cuts out the need for oil filters, mufflers, radiators and air hoses to be replaced.
If a customer has a problem, service technicians will come form Tesla headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
