Start your car with your smartphone?
That’s the story from Directed Electronics, the company behind Viper SmartStart for smartphones (that includes iPhones, BlackBerry and Androids). The basic premise—turn your smartphone into a key fob.
And there’s more… When the Viper SmartStart hardware is installed on the user’s vehicle (along with a compatible Viper remote start or security system) users can control their car from ‘virtually anywhere’ with their smartphone. They can also start their engine with the push of a button, pre-warm their car in the winter or pre-cool it in the summer. Depending on the installation, users can also lock and unlock the doors, pop the trunk, arm their security system and get an alert on their smartphone if their alarm is triggered.
