Closing Night Selection: "I Will Follow" at Urbanworld Film FestivalIt’s closing weekend for Urbanworld’s 14th Annual Film Festival in NYC. If you haven’t had a chance to preview one of the 71 films being screened over the past few days, go now!

Presented by BET Networks, the festival’s mission is “to shine a light on films and filmmakers whose artistic excellence is too often overlooked elsewhere,” said Urbanworld founder Stacy Spikes.

With Kerry Washington as Festival Ambassador, this year’s festival has been nothing short of amazing.

Highlights have included Nabil Elderkin’s Bouncing Cats, narrated by rapper/actor Common with Mos Def and Will-I-Am; Robert O’Hara’s The Inheritance, starring Golden Brooks and DB Woodside; Qasim Basir’s Mooz-lum,starring Danny Glover, Nia Long and Evan Ross; and Madeleine Sackler’s The Lottery, which uncovers the failures of the American public school system.

I Will Follow premieres tonight (7:30 p.m.) as the festival’s Closing Night selection. Written and directed by Ava DuVernay, Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Black Dynamite, Antwone Fisher), Omari Hardwick (For Colored Girls, Kick-Ass) and Beverly Todd (Crash) star in the family drama about a woman trying to move on from the death of a loved one.

It’s not too late to purchase tickets. Film screening are today from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. and tomorrow, from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
