A mother confronted daycare workers at an Oklahoma City daycare when she discovered that her one-year-old contracted Herpes while in their care. Consuela Smith said that her daughter returned home from daycare with painful blisters and bleeding around her mouth.
Consuela took her daughter to the doctors where she was startled at what the doctors told her. “They told me that she had herpes,” Smith said.
Smith immediately confronted the operators of ChildTime daycare to tell them about her daughter’s diagnosis. That’s when workers told Smith that one of the workers at the daycare had Herpes.
Dr. Ryan Brown from OU Children’s Hospital explained “cold sores are normally caused by herpes simplex one virus. They are very easily spread, by touching and rubbing something else or saliva.”
