MTV has nominated at least three songs and videos from Beyoncé’s surprise, self-titled visual album, including the first single, “Drunk in Love” for Video of the Year. The black and white video, co-starring husband Jay Z, will compete against Pharrell‘s super catchy radio hit “Happy,” “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus, and Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy,” which topped the Billboard charts for seven weeks.
Bey’s sultry “Partition” video has been nominated for Best Female Video and Cinematography, while her socially-conscious video “Pretty Hurts,” which shines a light on women’s insecurities and self-esteem issues, is nominated for Best Video Direction and Editing with a Social Message. She and best friend Kelly Rowland will compete in that category. Beyoncé and Jay Z are nominated for Best Collaboration for “Drunk in Love.”
