In the wee hours of Thursday morning, the 2014 Emmy nominations were revealed. “Orange is the New Black” scored huge this round, with a whopping 12 nominations, leading the comedy category.
The show’s lead actress Laverne Cox, reality star, actress and LGBTQ advocate was nominated for her supporting role along with scene-stealer “Crazy Eyes” Uzo Aduba. Cox makes history today as the first transgender actress to be nominated for an Emmy Award and shared her excitement via Twitter.
New mom and newlywed Kerry Washington will have her second chance at Best Actress in a Drama Series this year, after being snubbed last year for her role as Olivia Pope on the wildly successful “Scandal.” Washington’s co-stars, Joe Morton, who plays Pope’s father, and Kate Burton, were also recognized in the supporting actor categories.
