A Stone Mountain, Georgia hair school allegedly booted a Muslim student when she refused to remove her religious headwear, a hijab. Daliesha Barnett, former student at the Pro Way Hair School, received a dismissal letter from the school with no valid reason for her termination.
After school officials requested her hijab removal and Barnett denied, officials allegedly harassed her and decided not to allow her to attend classes. Claiming the school violated her constitutional rights, Barnett has teamed up with the Dekalb Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Both are fighting for Barnett’s right to manifest her religion and her right to an education.
