Grab the popcorn: the film adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie‘s novel “Half of a Yellow Sun” will make its small screen debut this fall on Starz.
Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton and Anika Noni Rose, the romantic drama follows two couples during the turbulent Biafran War in Nigeria during the 1960s. According to the official synopsis:
“The film centers around the diverging destinies of two sisters Olanna (Newton) and Kainene (Rose) who are glamorous twins from a wealthy Nigerian family. Upon returning to a privileged city life in newly independent 1960s Nigeria after their expensive English education, the two women make very different choices.”
In 2006, Adichie’s award-winning novel was listed as one of the New York Times‘ “100 Most Notable Books of the Year” and critically acclaimed as an “engagingly human narrative.”
