Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday) hit New Orleans over the weekend, along with rain and unusually cold temperatures, but that didn’t stop locals, tourists, and the police from coming together to party in the streets. In fact, one New Orleans cop wobbled through Mardi Gras.
Detective Winston Harbin took a moment from his police duties to Wobble, the popular line dance performed everywhere from wedding receptions to nightclubs. The veteran police officer and fellow detective Decynda Barnes got in on the action during the Endymion parade Saturday. Harbin showed off some additional moves as onlookers cheered him on. “The Wobble Cop,” as Harbin is known now, later pulled the Cupid Shuffle from his bag of tricks during the Zulu parade. Working the Mardi Gras parades is a welcome break, I’m sure, from handling cold homicide cases.
