Most people are lucky to make as little as $100 at a yard sale, but leave it to Oprah Winfrey to dominate that arena of life as well. The “Queen of Talk” had a yard sale over the weekend to simplify her life. Winfrey took items from her Hawaii, Indiana and California homes and reportedly took over three tents in Santa Barbara.
One of the most popular items sold during this yard sale were Oprah’s crystal bases, which were originally on sale for $200-$400 but ended up selling for $2,500. Other items that sold for thousands of dollars were six 18th century Louis XVI armchairs with hand-embroidered detail that sold for $60,000 and a teapot that sold for $1,000. This maybe excessive to most people but all that money will be put to good use – all the proceeds from the yard sale will go to Oprah’s Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.
