The FOX comedy series “Three the Hard Way” is inspired by the Wade’s bestselling memoir, which reflects on his experience raising two sons.
The series will focus on NBA superstar Daryl Wade and his entourage of eccentric friends, as they find themselves parenting by committee, when he gets full custody of his two young sons, Deadline reports. Wade will executive produce “Three The Hard Way,” and it is the first development from Wade’s ZZ Productions company.
TV programs highlighting the point of view of single Black fathers have been rare since the “Sinbad Show” and “One on One.” “Three the Hard Way” could expand positive male images in entertainment, while tackling the realities of being a working parent. With Wade’s experiences as an NBA superstar, his relationship with Gabrielle Union, and highly-publicized baby-mama drama with his ex-wife Siovaughn Funches-Wade, I’m sure the writers can draw experiences beyond what’s written in A Father First.
