After receiving negative feedback for comparing his troubled past to Jay Z‘s, Brown seems to be diverting the negative attention to a positive cause for the LGBT community. Taking to his Twitter page to express his opinion, he posted:
“Love is not a crime. Gay or straight. Love who u wanna love.” and “Everyone is entitled to dignity and respect.”
He encourages his 13 million followers to sign an All Out petition to end gay hate crimes in Africa and support Elton John‘s AIDS foundation.
All Out encourages politicians to accept the United Nations’ recommendation to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people in Cameroon. The campaign wants to bring change within the government to prevent violence, end discriminatory laws, and free people jailed by anti-gay laws. Over 70,000 digital signatures have been submitted to help All Out reach a goal of 100,000 signatures.
