Sources close to the project say the the 26-year-old actor and several up-and-coming stars met with director Roland Emmerich who is looking to replace the “too expensive” Will Smith. Jordan is said to be high on the studio’s list, although no official offer has been made.
The final casting news is expected to be announced closer to the holidays.

In addition to Fruitvale Station, Jordan is known for roles in The Wire, All My Children, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, Chronicle and more. He is set to star in MGM’s upcoming film Creed where he will play the grandson of Rocky Balboa’s rival Apollo Creed.
A rep for Smith says his status on the project remains the same– meaning he is not currently involved.
