“Scandal”‘s third season premieres in just a few days, and the internet is abuzz with all things Olivia Pope & Associates. Comedy website Funny or Die decided to redirect the hype toward the Affordable Care Act, which enters its next phase on October 1. They enlisted the help of Jennifer Hudson to spread the good news about the act through a half-funny, half-informative video, titled “Scandalous.”
This and other public service announcements come as part of the White House and Hollywood’s initiative to get young voters and citizens to enroll for coverage. The ACA is also making headlines as we approach a possible government shutdown surrounding the piece of legislation.
In the video, Hudson plays Lydia Cole, a “covert scandal manager” looking to fix up the seedy situations of Washington D.C. But instead of wiping down crime scenes, arranging negotiations, and finding moles, she learns that the people’s problems can be solved by the ACA. At least she doesn’t have to get her white coat dirty.
