Recently, Susan G. Komen and GUESS Eyewear announced, via a press release, their first-ever collaboration to support breast cancer research. Viva International Group, which owns the GUESS eyewear brand, will donate $5 from each sale of specially marked sunglasses or optical frames to Susan G. Komen. The promotion will begin mid-September of this year and ends on July 31, 2014, with a collective guaranteed minimum donation of $25,000 to promote innovative breast cancer research and global programs.
The limited-edition collection includes a playful mix of classic glamour and luxurious femininity. All the frames are available in black over pink in honor of the signature breast cancer awareness color. Details include pink rhinestones in a metal triangle plaque, a capped GUESS logo, and the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon on the outside temple tips. Each pair will also come with a custom collaboration case, box, lens cloth, and pamphlet detailing the partnership.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among African-American women. An estimated 27,060 new cases of breast cancer are expected to occur amongst African-American women in 2013.
The frames will be available in GUESS retail stores and on GUESS.com in mid-September. So grab some awesome GUESS sunnies or specs this fall to continue the global fight for a cure for this dreadful disease.
