Vogue Italia is continuing to push the boundaries on the narrow definitions of beauty with their first-ever Asian cover model, Fei Fei Sun. The spread shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel is another strong statement made by Editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani, who works as a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations’ Fashion 4 Development Project, to represent diversity in fashion.
“In the images, Fei Fei perfectly embodies a timeless idea of an extremely chic, beautiful woman,” Sozziani told WWD. “In this world, beauty is king and it’s something that brings people together with no national and racial limits.”
Sun made her runway debut at London Fashion Week in 2009, previously modeled for Calvin Klein and Diesel campaigns and has been featured in editorials for British Vogue.
