The Smoking Gun reports Samantha Kurdilla, 22, was sniffed out by the pooch during a routine check on her way back to the United States from Tijuana. A probable cause statement said the dog “alerted to a narcotic odor emitted from [her] groin area” which prompted authorities to question Kurdilla and her companion, James Perry.
The pair had been walking arm-in-arm, until Perry stated, “I’m not with her.” Both parties were detained for further processing.

Kurdilla denied bringing anything back to the States from her trip to Mexico, but admitted to partying with Perry and voluntarily revealed that the two had been smoking marijuana.
Federal agents later discovered a condom filled with 100 grams of cocaine “within her vaginal cavity” worth several thousand dollars. With the cat out of the bag (or the bag out of the cat), Kurdilla admitted to smuggling the drugs “in exchange for compensation,” but said the illegal substances belonged to Perry.
When questioned, Perry admitted to the smuggling attempt in hopes that he could resell the product in the U.S. Further confirmation of the scheme was revealed through text messages in Kurdilla’s phone to an unknown individual that stated, “I’m smuggling cocaine in my coochie.”
The probable cause statement only reported the discovery of cocaine.
Kurdilla and Perry will make separate court appearances on Thursday (Jan. 24) in U.S. District Court in San Diego.
