When I first heard that the Houstons were considering a reality show, I said to myself, “This is a joke, right?” “Isn’t this just too soon?” I thought. Apparently not. Just a few short months after the passing of fallen angel Whitney Houston came the premiere of “The Houstons: On Our Own,” the reality series on Lifetime starring the family of the late great icon. The show stars her daughter Bobbi Kristina and her boyfriend Nick Gordon, Whitney’s manager and sister-in-law Patty Houston, Whitney’s brother Gary Houston, and Whitney’s niece Rayah. And last but not least, Whitney’s mama Cissy Houston.
After forcing myself to watch this tragedy weeks later (because I couldn’t stomach it till now), I’ve concluded what I had already suspected. Yes, I’m psychic. And yes, every last Houston involved needs to pull up a chair, specifically one at the altar of Whitney’s home church.
