Social media has become embedded into our daily lives that we just can’t escape it. We Instagram our breakfast, we Facebook our disdain for morning traffic, we tweet that we should have gotten a large latte instead of a small, we pin our inspirations for our next rainy day project—the social sharing of our lives is never ending. So when it comes to dating and building a lasting relationship, it’s hard to completely remove that aspect from the mix. But whether or not you should follow your mate on social media should definitely be explored case by case.
Some of us adamantly refuse to follow who we’re in a relationship with, while others can’t seem to get enough of the sharing and sometimes prying into their mate’s social media life. Let’s admit, a lot can happen as a result of an innocent tweet or a status update. Although it has been perceived that social media can ruin relationships, there’s something to be said about the good things that social media can do for relationships, new or old.
