In his new autobiography out Tuesday, Wyclef Jean is ready to spill the tea on the truth behind the Fugee’s disbandment and his love affair with front woman Lauryn Hill.
According to the group’s founder, Jean claims that while he and Hill carried on a relationship throughout his marriage with designer Marie Claudinette, Hill lied about the paternity of her first child.
Jean alleges he was led to believe that her son, Zion, was his when Bob Marley‘s son Rohan proved to be the father.
“In that moment something died between us. I was married and Lauryn and I were having an affair, but she led me to believe that the baby was mine, and I couldn’t forgive that,” he states.
“She could not longer be my muse. Our love spell was broken.”
Jean’s candid memoir Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story also details his impoverished childhood, journey to fame and the controversy surrounding the Yéle Haiti Foundation.
