Following this weekend’s domestic violence incident involving former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson and Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada, VH1 has announced its plans to cancel their upcoming reality show.
“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it,” the network said in an official statement on Monday.
On Saturday, Johnson was arrested after allegedly headbutting Lozada during an intense argument, leaving a 3-inch cut on her forehead. Lozada claims the altercation occurred after she confronted Johnson about a receipt for a box of condoms.
Johnson was arrested and charged with simple domestic battery, but was released early Sunday morning on $2,500 bond. Shortly after, the Miami Dolphins dismissed the 34-year-old NFL star from the team.
The show, which was set to air Sept. 3, followed the couple’s relationship from dating to their walk down the aisle on July 4.
