As a child, I used to find great humor in this one particular joke: One day, a family of tomatoes went on a walk. The young tomato fell behind. The father tomato ran back and stepped on him yelling, “Ketchup!”
“Catch-up!” is the mantra of today. Everyone is talking about all of the things they need to do to catch-up. Sometimes I feel like that smashed tomato when all of my tasks go undone. Two great teachers of mine, Ron and Mark Hulnick, have coined the term Incomplete Cycles of Action to describe this particular issue. There is a potent amount of energy that is released when you complete one of your goals. One way of completing a cycle of action is to release the goal. Is there a book that you have been meaning to finish that you just have not read? Or a recipe that you have been meaning to make?
Write down all of your Incomplete Cycles of Action. Are there any that you can cross out and release? If there are any that you are willing to let go, start with those. Cross them off your list and release the hold on your energy. Next, choose small steps you can take towards completing your other goals. You will feel energy and vitality as you complete each task. You will feel the energy of catching-up.
