The singer/actress has announced she will drop her sixth studio album on August 28. Two Eleven, representing the date of her birthday and the death of Whitney Houston, will be Brandy’s follow-up album to 2008’s Human. She said her new music will be reflective of her experiences.
“It’s just gonna be a different album, but of course expressing the love that I feel now and the struggles and different situations that I’ve gone through in the past,” she told Rap-Up.com. “My music always tends to be the soundtrack to my life and definitely inspired by what I see other people go through as well– gritty, edgy, different.”
Since Houston’s death in February, Brandy has stated on numerous occasions how much her mentor and friend meant to her and it is evident that listeners will hear that inspiration throughout the album.
“She completely blessed me and changed my life from the moment I saw her open her mouth to sing,” she told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette earlier this month. “My whole life is dedicated to her.”
Two Eleven will include her hit duet with Monica “It All Belongs To Me” and the second official single “Put It Down,” featuring Chris Brown. The album will also get a little help from Frank Ocean, Rico Love, Sean Garrett, Bangladesh and more.
