UPDATE: The couple released this statement Monday thanking fans for their congratulations on Baby Blue:
“Hello Hello Baby Blue! We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”
Jay-Z has never been shy about letting his emotions flow through his music, but his new song “Glory” might be his most intimate record yet.
Posted on his website Monday, the 42-year-old rapper explains the beauty in the birth of his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Over a Pharrell-produced beat, the proud papa says,
“You’re the child of my destiny. You’re my child from the child of Destiny’s Child– that’s a hell of a recipe.”
By the close of the song, listeners can hear the innocent cry of his “greatest creation.”
Yet “Glory” reveals a secret pain that he and Beyonce have been rightfully hiding from the public. In the second verse, Jay-Z says,
“You was made in Paris and mama woke up the next day and shot her album package/ Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/ We was afraid you disappeared but nah baby, you magic.”
The song is a beautiful tribute to the couple’s new blessing and a sweet reminder of how precious life really is.
