Jay-Z To Make History At Carnegie Hall & On Billboard Charts
Posted by on Dec 8, 2011

Jay-Z can check another milestone off his “To Do” list: the 42-year-old rapper announced Thursday he will be performing two shows at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The performance will mark the first time a solo hip-hop artist has headlined at the historic venue.

“Its every artists dream to play a venue as legendary as Carnegie Hall,” he says at a press conference. ”The fact that I can use the arts and my talent to benefit the education of the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs, and great thinkers makes for a legendary night. I’m proud to be a part of the continuing work of United Way of New York City and expanding the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.”

Jay-Z also broke a Billboard record this week with his hit single “Niggas In Paris.” He now surpasses Lil Wayne with “The Most Top 10 Singles By A Rapper” with 18 wins.

If that’s not enough, TIME and Rolling Stone have named his collaboration album with Kanye West, “Watch The Throne,” as one of the best albums of 2011.

Great week for Jay!
