Posted by on Dec 22, 2011

Over the span of her career, Diana Ross has proven time and time again why she is a music icon and her efforts will pay off at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

The diva is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her many contributions to the music industry. Ross’ early career with The Supremes set a new blueprint for girl groups and her impact as a solo artist paved the way for some today’s biggest stars (i.e. Beyonce).

Over her career, Ross has been nominated for 12 Grammys (although never winning), received an Oscar nomination for “Lady Sings the Blues,” churned out 18 No.1 records and released 67 albums!

Other honorees include Gil Scott-Heron, Glen Campbell,  the Allman Brothers Band, George Jones, Antonio Carlos Jobim and the Memphis Horns.

The 54th annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles on Feb. 12th, 2012.
