Reed Between the Lines is promising to be one of the season’s most critically acclaimed comedies on the air. Tracee Ellis Ross of Girlfriends fame and Malcolm-Jamal Warner of The Cosby Show lead this ensemble cast about an educated black family – what a concept. In celebration of their premiere this tonight on BET, we decided to take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of our favorite black shows.
It’s been a while, but they are just as funny as they ever were. Here are 5 of our favorites…
Martin is everybody’s favorite show – “everybody” might be an exaggeration, but it definitely brought in a new and untapped black audience for Fox. Martin Lawrence was hilarious in the title role with Tisha Campbell playing a strong educated Gina Waters. The show chronicles Martin’s everyday life and relationships with his best friends Tommie, Cole, and Gina’s best friend Pam played by Tichina Arnold. This show lasted for five seasons and brought in different characters all played by Martin Lawrence, but Sheneneh is everybody’s favorite.
