“I don’t really get nervous,” Murphy says, according to HitFix. “Oscars is a fun thing to do. I don’t feel the pressure. I get to introduce people and stand up straight. Maybe I’ll be in a couple silly sketches or something.”
Murphy says that he doesn’t have any material planned for February’s show because no one’s been nominated yet, but he has made one promise that he plans on keeping.
“I’m looking forward to doing it and I promise I’ll stay there all night,” he says in reference to leaving the Oscars early in 2007 after losing Best Supporting Actor for Dreamgirls to Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine).
The 84th annual Academy Awards air live Feb. 26 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST.
