First Lady Michelle Obama is no stranger to awe-inspiring fashion and having a style of her own. That is why she is teaming up with Tim Gunn (Project Runway) to honor some of the nation’s top designers.
She will host a luncheon later today to honor the winners of the 2011 National Design Awards presented by the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City. The honorees are not limited to fashion but also designers that specialize in creating popular computer fonts and Swiffer floor-cleaning products. The event will take place at the White House.
Winners include Matthew Carter for his typeface designs that include Verdana and Georgia fonts for Microsoft. Also, design company Continuum is receiving an award for their designs with Reebok’s Pump shoes and Swiffers.
