The Tragic Death
In the final episode of season one, Val is caught in self-induced love triangle between her ex-boyfriend of five years and her more recent ex, Jerry, who both decide to propose to her within minutes. As Jerry presents the ring, he is shocked to find that Val has reverted back to her ex and slept with him. The pain reads all over his face.

What fans don’t see is the rage boiling inside of Jerry. He walks away, unable to piece together the loss of his love and how he gave so much to a woman who toyed with his heart. He plots. Several days later, he invites Val to his place for a candlelit dinner. Unknowing of the resentment that Jerry has towards her and all the women who have done him wrong in the past, she obliges. They enjoy the meal and after, he offers up a soothing bubble bath as soft jazz plays in the background. The radio and “clumsy” Jerry sit next to the tub.
Poor, poor Val.
Season two opens with a distraught Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy) and April (Charity Shea) at Val’s funeral. The loss of a friend is never easy, but they have each other and they will get through it.
